Ramnaresh Sarwan a flashy Cover Drive Player. Regarded as one of the West Indian greats to play the game but he was not hyped so much, which resulted in this younger generation a chance to forget Sarwan and his accomplishments.

Despite remaining in the giant shadows of Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Chris Gayle throughout his career, Sarwan carved out a niche for himself, with his exemplary breathtaking footwork, dazzling strokeplay

Sarwan played the ball to square-leg and ran for a single. When he ran past McGrath the bowler, to the surprise of many, asked: “What does Brian Lara’s c*ck taste like?”

and Sarwan had responded: “I don’t know. Ask your wife.”

“Under normal circumstances, McGrath would have accepted that he’d asked for it. But with Jane at homesick, all he heard was an insult

McGrath’s fingers were pointed at Sarwan, and the words that came out of his mouth were “If you f**king mention my wife again, I’ll f**king rip your f**king throat out.”

Then Sarwan was left confused, completely unaware of what had happened. He had no idea of Jane’s condition. “Sarwan had no idea of Jane’s problem and was quite apologetic about it,”

Sarwan was hit by a Dilhara Fernando’s bouncer and soon he felled and went retired hurt but this is a knockout match for west indies if they lose they will be out of the competition

But Sarwan later came back and resumed his innings and given his team a chance to taste winning but eventually failed and knocked out of the tournament

Player of the tournament:

Sarwan has adjudged as the Player of the tournament for the Champions trophy 2004

Career Downfall:

• Sarwan was dropped from the side for the second Test against Pakistan in November 2006. It was the first time in his six-year career that he had missed a game due to poor form. According to Captain Brian Lara "It wasn't designed as a drop. We just wanted to make him aware of the situation and come back stronger. We need him and we need him to take control
• Captaincy Fails:
• Sarwan has captained Westindies in 2 tests and they have lost 2 of them
• Fitness issues and Poor Form:
• Due to continuous Injuries and poor form, Sarwan was dropped from the west indies team

He announced his retirement from international cricket in September 2016.

He played his last international match as an ODI against India on 11 June 2013

Though Sarwan has lost his charm, he should be regarded as one of the modern-day legends for his sound technique and good to score against both Spin and Pace
