Most Boring ICC Tournament Ever

2007 world cup was the 9th edition of the cricket world cup was one of the borest ICC tournament ever.

This tournament started on March 13 and ended on April 28 .. proved to be the longest tournament than its previous editions

16 teams have participated in this tournament proves to be an exciting one but failed miserably in the end. I hope all the 90 's kids will know why this provides a flop show

The below picture says it all

  1. Early exit

Two of the favorite teams India and Pakistan have exit much early from the tournament.

2. Empty stadiums

This world cup has not seen much full-packed crowd. On average, only 8500 people have witnessed per match. This average has made possible because of the full house in the world cup semifinal and final match.

3. Controversies - Bob Woolmer death

His death came after the next day when Pakistan lost to Ireland. Jamaican police later confirmed that he died of some natural causes.

4 . Australian dominance

It was the golden period for Australian cricket where they have never lost a game in the tournament and they have won all the matches with ease.

.

5. key players have failed to perform

Players like Andrew Flintoff, Jacob Oram, Ms. Dhoni, Brian Lara, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Inzamam ul Haq, Mohamad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik where all had a great run between the years ( 2004 - 2007 ) .. but they all have failed in that tournament.

Apart from a few notable performances. Lasith Malinga's 4 wickets in 4 balls, Herschelle Gibbs 6 sizes in an over, Bangladesh beat South Africa were the few enjoyable performances from the tournament. And this tournament has brought some end to the superstars and legends of world cricket

Brian Lara

Glen McGrath

Inzamam ul haq

Finally, the tournament finale match between the Srilanka and Australia has to lead to some controversies ..

In the end, we have to admit that it's a one-sided world cup final

Umpires have announced that play was suspended due to the bad light then few of the Australian players have started to celebrate .. but the umpires have incorrectly insisted that the game was just suspended not complete. This led to the high voltage drama but later after few minutes, it declared that Australia is the world champion and they won the match by Duckworth Lewis method.

Especially if you are an Indian, this would be your worst cricketing tournament to be forgotten. But after this terrible world cup lot of good changes have happened to Indian cricket.

  1. A lot of youngsters started to rope into the side and given the opportunity.
  2. Greg Chappel ( slave master) was removed as Indian coach

That leads' to the new beginning of the new MSD era.
